From a New Student to Feeling at Home: My College Experience
Starting college was both exciting and intimidating for me. When I first entered university, everything felt unfamiliar. I did not know my classmates, the campus was huge, and the learning style was very different from high school. At that time, I often felt nervous and unsure about whether I could adapt to this new environment.
During the first few months, the biggest challenge for me was social interaction. In high school, I was used to staying with the same group of friends, but in college, I had to meet new people and communicate with strangers. At first, I was quiet and hesitant to start conversations. However, group projects and class activities gradually forced me to step out of my comfort zone. Over time, I began to talk more, make friends, and feel less anxious in social situations.
Another important change was learning how to manage my time independently. Unlike high school, college gave me much more freedom. At first, I sometimes procrastinated and struggled to balance assignments, social life, and personal time. After experiencing stress from deadlines, I learned to plan my schedule more carefully and became more responsible.
Now, after spending more time in college, I feel much more comfortable and confident. I have formed close friendships, understand the academic system better, and feel familiar with campus life. Looking back, I realize that this transition helped me grow into a more independent and adaptable person.
In conclusion, the journey from being a new student to feeling at home in college was not easy, but it was an important process of personal growth. Through challenges, social experiences, and self-discipline, I have become more mature and confident.
